About the role

Our client develops, constructs and manages cross-technology renewable energy projects across Italy, the UK and Spain with a number of projects at various stages of development. Our client has a strong track record of delivering renewable energy projects across the UK and Europe they're looking to recruit a Grid Connections Engineer to join the team to focus on identifying available connection capacity on the distribution and transmission network for potential Utility-scale Solar & BESS or wind projects.

Role responsibilities

  • Engaging with DNOs, NESO, and TOs on pre-app meetings, connection surgeries, and budget estimate offers to gather market-leading intelligence on the availability of connections in the UK, and maintain viability of existing project pipeline.

  • Completing G99 applications and NESO transmission connection applications, including all aspects related to the grid connections process to optimize potential projects from a technical and financial perspective.

  • Analysing grid connection offers and working with the network operators and external grid advisors to mitigate risks and achieve cost efficient grid connections.

  • Monitoring and supporting the management of the project pipeline to ensure all projects are compliant with grid offer milestones, relevant regulations, and policies affecting grid connected projects. This includes engagement with NESO, DNOs, and TOs.

  • Engaging with existing and future JV partners from a grid perspective to maintain viability of the project pipeline.

  • Supporting and advising the management team on summarizing costs, scope of work and technical aspects of grid connection offers and project pipeline.

Role requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems or similar

  • 2+ years experience working in a technical role on grid connection projects in a grid, renewables, or consultancy environment.

  • Experience with grid connections/power systems of DNOs, TOs, ESO.

  • Good understanding of the commercial and technical aspects of distribution and transmission connection and delivery processes.

  • Understanding of the G99 process, Grid Code, CUSC, and other distribution and transmission policies
